Glycolysis 1.0

As a reviewer, I assess an educational app intended for BSc biochemistry students. It presents a structured overview of the glycolytic pathway in three sections.

• Section 1: Reaction types in glycolysis

  The module presents five reaction types encountered in glycolysis through animated illustrations. Each reaction—aldol cleavage, isomerization, dehydration, phosphoryl shift, and phosphorylation—is available for play and replay, enabling repeated viewing to reinforce recognition and sequencing.

• Section 2: Substrates and products in glycolysis

  The module covers the ten steps of glycolysis with interactive animations that display substrates, products, enzymes, and cofactors for each step. The net outcome of the pathway is summarized in a consolidated table, facilitating synthesis and quick reference.

• Section 3: Test yourself

  A drag-and-drop activity assesses recall of the glycolytic order. Students arrange molecules in the correct sequence; correct placements lock into position while incorrect attempts reset to their original positions, providing immediate feedback on progress.
